My National Cadet Corps (NCC) journey began in Secondary 1, where I first stepped into my secondary school unit with no idea how much it would shape my growth, discipline, and leadership. Over the years, NCC became more than just a CCA — it became a space where I learned to persevere, serve others, and lead with integrity.
Rising through the ranks, I had the privilege of serving as the Unit Sergeant Major (USM) and NCC Head from Secondary 3 to 4. In this role, I oversaw training sessions, coordinated unit activities, and ensured the well-being and discipline of the cadets. Leading my batch and juniors taught me responsibility, teamwork, and how to remain composed under pressure.
I also worked closely with my teachers-in-charge and fellow cadet leaders to plan parades, camps, and assessments. These experiences strengthened my confidence, communication skills, and ability to manage complex operations.
After graduating from secondary school, I chose to continue serving by enrolling in the 73rd Cadet Officer Course (2023). The training challenged me both physically and mentally, pushing me to become a stronger and more self-aware leader. Completing the course marked a meaningful transition from being a student leader to taking on a mentorship role.
Currently, I serve SGNCC as a Cadet Officer, and I also hold the role of Publicity & Engagement Overall-In-Charge under the Cadet Officer Executive Committee. In this position, I assist in planning and executing training programmes, supporting events (especially in the media aspect), and guiding the next generation of officers and cadets. It is an honour to give back to the Corps, applying the skills and values I gained over the years.
NCC has shaped my character in countless ways — discipline, resilience, teamwork, and service. From my first footdrill to leading a unit, and now training future cadets, every step of the journey has helped build who I am today. The Corps has taught me to step up, take responsibility, and lead with purpose, and it remains one of the most defining experiences in my life.
